Software said to extend value of back-end apps to globally distributed business partners
Columbus, OH — May 17, 2005 — Sterling Commerce, a subsidiary of SBC Communications, today introduced solution sets of Gentran Integration Suite 4.0 packaged specifically for SAP, Oracle, Siebel and other enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
The B2B packages include all the software, adapters, services and training necessary to implement the solutions.
Sterling claimed that B2B for SAP and Siebel for the first time gives users visibility across the entire business process, from back-end application, across the firewall to critical business partners.
"Virtually every Fortune-sized company has already made smart investments in ERP and CRM systems, enabling these companies to efficiently and effectively run their core business functions," said Nolan Rosen, chief marketing officer of Sterling Commerce. "In order to create further value, these enterprises now need an architecture that will enable them to extend the value of these core applications beyond the edge of the enterprise to critical business partners upon which the business relies for growth."
Rosen added that Sterling's Multi-enterprise Services Architecture (MESA) is a complement to SAP's Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA) by providing the security, integration, workflow and intelligence services necessary for end-to-end process visibility.
David Brais, electronic data analyst with STERIS Corp., said, "Every day, STERIS has thousands of points of contact with medical professionals, so providing visibility into key applications data is essential to STERIS delivering value. With Sterling Commerce, STERIS is advancing the value of its legacy applications and taking the first steps toward true multi-enterprise collaboration. This approach for both internal and external integration provides end-to-end visibility and is an important service differentiator for STERIS Corp."
