RFID Cart Solution to help retail customers track inventory of consumer goods
White Plains, NY, and Mississauga, ON — March 3, 2005 — Paxar Corp., a provider of bar code, radio frequency identification (RFID) and identification technologies for the retail supply chain, Psion Teklogix, a mobile computing, wireless data collection and RFID provider, today announced a partnership to deliver mobile computing solutions to the retail supply chain market.
As integral to the partnership, Paxar Corp. has joined the Psion Teklogix Ascent Partner Program and will resell the Psion Teklogix line of rugged mobile computing devices, integrated with Paxar's Monarch line of mobile and tabletop printers, supplies and RFID printing/encoding products.
Paxar Corp. and Psion Teklogix are also developing a mobile RFID workstation solution to help global retailers use RFID technology to take inventory of apparel and other consumer goods.
The RFID cart-like workstation solution is designed to glide through aisles of apparel or other products to assess and report real-time floor inventory. The cart's standard operational parameters utilize specific directional antenna arrays and RFID reader power attenuation to focus on the specific merchandise to be considered. The Psion Teklogix application software is Web-based with an open standards SQL 2000 database and can be deployed throughout the enterprise.
In addition, Paxar said its service teams have been trained to integrate the products into solutions for the tracking and control of materials and merchandise in distribution centers and manufacturing locations, and support the solution following installation.
"We are pleased to include Paxar in our Ascent Partner Program and work with them to develop solutions like the RFID Workstation system for retail customers," said Rob Douglas, president, Psion Teklogix Americas. "Psion Teklogix is committed to working with a range of partners to develop RFID and mobile computing solutions that meet the needs of our global customers."
