Forest products company to use Liaison Enterprise Content Director to aid in UCC compliance, connection to office products customers
Atlanta — July 11, 2005 — Liaison Technologies today announced it has been selected as the product information management (PIM) provider and UCCnet project consultants for International Paper's Commercial Printing & Imaging Papers business. International Paper will use Liaison Enterprise's Content Director to provide its trading partners with real-time product information.
When completed, International Paper expects the PIM system will give its trading partners the real-time ability to produce print, electronic and online product catalogs directly from International Paper's detailed product information.
Delivered as a managed service, Liaison Enterprise Content Director permits disparate IT systems to pull information from constantly updated data pools, maintained by Liaison Technologies, using industry standards such as UCCnet, papiNet, CIDX and XML technology to ensure accurate data synchronization.
"Liaison Technologies has a mature product information management solution with a built-in workflow that best met our needs," said John Balboni, chief information officer at International Paper. "Because Liaison Enterprise Content Director is a managed solution, it gives us the potential to adapt it to meet future internal and industry demands. In addition, because the solution is hosted, the ramp-up time for this is far less than the estimated three to six months required by other approaches."
Liaison's PIM product provided an integrated proven solution for both content management and UCCnet connectivity. Liaison Enterprise Content Director is a real-time PIM solution that supports large product catalogs with multiple attributes for each item. Built for sharing data with trading partners, Liaison Technologies' PIM offering is delivered as a managed service and provides a combination of customizable workflows with a validation engine and active data repository. It is certified to support current UCCnet standards for data synchronization, including hardlines and office supply extensions. Liaison Content Director applies adaptive intelligence techniques and data manipulation rules that are proven to improve data quality.
"Liaison Technologies' relationship with the Uniform Code Council brings additional benefits to us," Balboni said. "They are in a position to help us take advantage of UCC standards in a way that will minimize implementation costs and reduce rework. In addition, we don't have to spend time and resources struggling to get and remain up to speed on the evolving arena of standards and compliance issues because Liaison Technologies is able to provide us with that expertise."
The announcement represents an extension of the relationship between International Paper and Liaison. The organizations first started working together in 2000, and since that time, Liaison has continued to provide real-time enterprise networking solutions and consulting to the company.
