Burlington, MA — January 30, 2004 — In light of the announcement that Ariba has acquired FreeMarkets, Emptoris Inc., a provider of sourcing and spend analysis solutions, announced that customers of FreeMarkets and Ariba will be able to convert to the Emptoris Negotiation Suite with no licensing costs.

Avner Schneur, president and CEO, Emptoris, said his company's negotiation suite has shown that it provides value to Global 5000 customers across diverse industries, and he appealed to customers that may not want to wait to see if the combined FreeMarkets and Ariba platform would meet their needs.

"We realize that FreeMarkets and Ariba's customers have made an initial e-sourcing investment," he said. "By offering the Emptoris Negotiation Suite at no cost, we are enabling these companies to convert to one of the leading e-sourcing solutions on the market today."

The Negotiation Suite, a component of the Emptoris Sourcing Portfolio, manages buyer and supplier interaction, from initial supplier qualification to competitive real-time bidding to complex request for quotes (RFQs).

Schneur said organizations that take advantage of this offer within 90 days would receive a perpetual license for the Emptoris Negotiation Suite, paying only for maintenance and service fees.
