Web-based manufacturing dashboard intended to improve quality and regulatory compliance, increase production, reduce capital expenditures
Charlottesville, VA — August 26, 2004 — GE Fanuc Automation Americas is rolling out a new software tool for collecting and analyzing manufacturing data and delivering a personalized online "dashboard" to help companies improve quality and regulatory compliance, increase production and reduce capital expenditures.
Headquartered in Charlottesville, Va., GE Fanuc Automation Americas is a unit of GE Infrastructure, providing industrial automation solutions designed to help companies optimize their manufacturing processes and improve the performance of their business.
GE Fanuc is debuting the new Proficy Real-Time Information Portal, intended to support better, faster decision-making by helping production, IT and business users analyze manufacturing trends and statistical deviations. The software collects and analyzes manufacturing data, and then presents results in a personalized dashboard, or "digital cockpit," through a Web browser.
Using trending and graphical reporting capabilities, the solution calculates, analyzes and presents an overall view of key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics necessary to run processes in a more efficient manner.
With the solution, businesses can gain real-time information to calculate, analyze and improve KPIs; increase quality by comparing current to ideal production; reduce fines by improving regulatory compliance; and increase production by improving machine uptime and efficiency, according to GE Fanuc.
In addition, the provider said that the solution can help companies limit the scope and cost of recalls by improving traceability; improve decision-making with accurate, timely reporting; speed product releases with electronic signatures and 21 CFR Part 11 support; reduce capital expenditures by improving asset utilization; and provide manufacturing visibility to their supply chain for improved speed and efficiency.
"Proficy Real-Time Information Portal provides the tools to help companies make significant, measurable gains throughout their operations in order to improve performance, reduce costs and expand the bottom line," said Kevin Roach, vice president for GE Fanuc Automation. "This software technology also delivers data to key decision-making platforms, such as [enterprise resource planning (ERP)], supply chain and [customer relationship management (CRM)], extending the investment in these systems."
