Seeks to improve product development efficiency, optimize engineering resources with rules-driven solution
Wakefield, MA — November 24, 2004 — RuleStream Corp., a provider of rules-driven product management (RPM) solutions to the discrete manufacturing industries, today announced that Armstrong Pumps Inc. will implement RuleStream's RPM solution to scale its product development processes.
Toronto-based S.A. Armstrong Ltd., parent company to Armstrong Pumps Inc., approached Javelin Technologies looking for help meeting rising demand for its fluid flow equipment for residential, commercial and industrial applications. Javelin, Canada's largest SolidWorks value-added reseller (VAR), recommended RuleStream.
Armstrong said it will focus its initial RuleStream implementation on extending the functionality of its ACE Online product selection and configuration system by automating the configuration of 3D components and assemblies, developing a scalable platform for automating multiple product lines, and improving data integration across the multiple software systems currently in use for streamlining the product development process.
Engineering deliverables that once took hours could soon be generated in minutes using the new system. Armstrong also expects increased accuracy and speed in responding to requests for quotes (RFQs) and order fulfillment requests.
"There's a lot of growth opportunity for us, so naturally our goal is to ramp-up our production capabilities to deliver orders more rapidly while also improving engineering accuracy and quality," said Peter Thomsen, marketing manager, strategic projects, S.A. Armstrong Ltd. "RuleStream will help us achieve our ambitious expansion objectives while keeping growth costs in line by enabling our engineers to apply their skills and talents more effectively."
