Chocolate-maker implements John Galt solution to enable faster, more accurate forecasting, better inventory control

Chicago — December 16, 2003 — Chocolate-maker and retailer Gertrude Hawk is set to implement a demand management application from John Galt Solutions in a bid to enable faster, more accurate forecasting and better inventory control.

Headquartered in Dunmore, Pa., Gertrude Hawk Chocolates has been making chocolates since the early 1900s. Named after the family, their chocolates are sold in more than 60 retail stores located in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.

The company will use Chicago-based John Galt's ForecastX Demand Management Engine to produce forecasts for all its retail stores and will integrate the demand requirements plan with its legacy system.

Gertrude Hawk is looking for the solution to enable the company to generate faster and more accurate forecasts, as well as to provide increased efficiency and visibility.

"What used to take hours and countless spreadsheets will now be an automated function, enabling our team to spend more time analyzing the forecast and demand requirements for over sixty retail outlets and gaining even better inventory control," said Bruce Cottle, chief information officer for the chocolate company.

Privately held John Galt provides collaborative demand planning and forecasting solutions designed to help enterprises improve their demand planning processes. Other John Galt customers include Levi's Canada, The Hoover Co. and the Chinet Co.
