Ensuring Contented Content

Kinecta adds to lineup

San Francisco May 14, 2001 B2B content networks provider Kinecta Corp. today announced the Kinecta Content Directory, a new part of the company's overall Content Network solution. The company is also announcing upgrades to its entire product line.

"We're providing the industry's most complete solution to address customer requirements for content distribution, syndication and exchange," said David Mathison, Kinecta chairman and CEO. "The Kinecta Content Directory is a critical component of our solution because it allows business line managers to easily package and provide access to content while enabling partners to automatically request and start receiving that content, without requiring IT [information technology] staff involvement."

Kinecta Content Directory is the first application of its kind to enable companies to build a private-labeled, categorized and searchable online listing of available content. Content of any type can be supported, including business documents, sales and marketing materials, manufacturing drawings, news and multimedia files. Those authorized to access the Content Directory are able to browse or search for content that meets their unique needs, preview content, request information or subscriptions and agree to business terms online. Once content has been subscribed to, all new or updated content is automatically delivered. Kinecta Content Directory's demand and usage reports help companies to better target content development and distribution efforts.

The new application automates the process of setting up and activating regular deliveries of content to multiple partners. Content Networks are the business relationships and processes supporting the online exchange of content both within and between businesses. By enabling self-subscription, Content Directory offloads the amount of resources required to manage increasing volumes of content and the increasing numbers of online consumers of that content.

STAT-USA, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is participating in the beta program for Content Directory. STAT-USA produces and distributes business, economic, and trade information products that American businesses and individuals need to make intelligent and informed decisions. "We anticipate that the Kinecta Content Directory will help us to organize this information into logical offerings for syndication to other information providers," said Forrest Williams, senior advisor to the director for STAT-USA.
