VerticalNet launches procurement portal for Pepsi Bottling Group

Tempe, AZ June 29, 2001 The Pepsi Bottling Group has launched a procurement portal that consolidates the company's worldwide purchasing communications into one online location.

Pepsi and employees of Pepsi Bottling Group can access the secure site, which is being hosted by VerticalNet, which operates numerous online trading communities in a variety of industry verticals.

The Pepsi Bottling Group is the world's largest seller, manufacturer and distributor of Pepsi-Cola beverages, with operations in the U.S., Canada, Greece, Russia and Spain.

The launch of the Pepsi portal is no doubt good news for VerticalNet, which has seen continued losses and undergone at least two rounds of layoffs this year as it struggles to eke a profit out of the e-marketplaces it operates.
