Southfield, MI. -- July 3, 2001 -- Auto supplier GETRAG Corp. is using a real-time inventory management application from SupplySolution to reduce inventory at the manufacturer's U.S. plants, according to an announcement this week from the solution provider.
GETRAG, a manufacturer of axle, PTU's and engine timing gears, is a division of GETRAG GmbH, a German manufacturer for automotive transmissions.
In October 2000, GETRAG Corp. began national implementation of SupplySolutions' Web-based application for direct material fulfillment, i-Supply, in its U.S. plants, beginning with Newton, N.C. The manufacturer reported a 67 percent reduction in the inventory managed by the application during the first phase.
GETRAG has further implemented i-Supply in its Charleston, S.C., plant, and plans further expansion of its use of the application.
Commenting on his company's use of the application, Jochen Wieland, GETRAG's vice president of purchasing and information technology, said, "i-Supply fits very well into our plans to streamline our internal and external business processes and to ensure the right information at the right time at the right place."
GETRAG's project manager for i-Supply, Lisa Hernandez, said, "The service also promotes our company vision to have open and honest communication with our suppliers and to treat them as partners."
