Increased ability to transportation services now available

Palo Alto, CA September 19, 2001 SAPMarkets, Inc., the exchange company of the SAP group, has begun offering customers the ability to procure and manage transportation services through e-transportation provider NTE.

This added capability will provide integrated transportation services to private and public exchanges running on MarketSet, the joint solution from SAPMarkets and Commerce One. NTE has created an XML-based interface to automate communication and process flows between a shipper and an exchange. XML integration allows for transportation of goods procured through private and public exchanges and eliminates the need for manually contacting transportation service providers. The interface provides customers with the real-time ability to tender freight, receive and confirm quotes, track and trace freight and generate statistical reports.

"With this partnership, companies that benefit from SAPMarkets' solutions now can easily gain supply chain efficiencies and real-time transportation execution capabilities, eliminating manual and fragmented processes," said Jim Davidson, president and CEO of NTE, which has been operating its transportation e-marketplace since 1995. "The relationship with SAPMarkets opens the door for continued NTE business growth as we bring the benefits of e-commerce to transportation-dependent companies across America."

NTE is the first transportation e-marketplace that has completed XML integration with MarketSet and the first logistics provider in the United States to join the SAPMarkets Partner Program. "Our relationship with NTE ensures that indirect and direct goods procured through an exchange get delivered on time and in a cost-effective manner," said Mayur Shah, president of SAPMarkets. "Equally important, NTE has expertise in connecting and integrating logistical services within heterogeneous IT environments."

MarketSet is used to create public and private exchanges that drive business processes across software systems and value-added services. Design, planning, procurement and analytics are integrated into a collaborative environment that provides marketplace operators with the tools they need to turn their business relationships into a revenue-generating opportunity.
