Broomfield, CO September 18, 2002 Corporate Express today rolled out an upgraded version of its online procurement system, adding features intended to make it easier for business customers to access the office products giant's goods and services.
Corporate Express originally launched its E-Way online offering in 1996. The upgraded system includes a customizable, B2C-style Web site that allows customers to search for products by category, name, keywords or manufacturer.
Perhaps more important, the new system provides access to customer billing invoices, statements and product purchasing reports, and new spending control functions let companies monitor and manage product purchases, according to Corporate Express.
The office products company says that its E-Way offering can integrate with various e-procurement systems.
Corporate Express currently claims 35,000 customers and 500,000 registered users are using E-Way, and the company is projecting that its online sales will reach $1 billion this year.
"Delivering newer, faster and more cost effective services for our customers is an essential part of Corporate Express' e-business strategy and central to our value proposition of 'operational excellence,'" said Mark Hoffman, president and CEO of North American operations for Corporate Express. "We are dedicated to preparing the world for business, and the new E-Way plays a large part in maintaining the high quality service our clients deserve."
Corporate Express is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Buhrmann, an international business services and distribution group.
