Radiologix to implement software to manage imaging equipment and other assets
Charlotte, NC — July 8, 2003 — Radiologix Inc., an operator of outpatient diagnostic imaging centers, has implemented Asset Management software from Verian Technologies to help manage its imaging equipment and other assets.
Radiologix said the software, a component of the ProcureIT suite of Spend Management products from Verian Technologies, enables it to track comprehensive information about each piece of equipment, including acquisition price and ongoing cost of maintenance. ProcureIT aggregates this data to reveal the total cost of ownership for each asset, which guides negotiating, future planning and purchasing decisions for Radiologix's materials management team. The company said it would use data to support a 3-year, $4 million cost-reduction initiative that includes contract re-negotiation with vendors that service the company's equipment.
"Verian's software lets us manage the entire lifecycle of our assets across all locations. We're able to stay on top of warranties, service records and maintenance costs as well as make better informed decisions when it comes to purchasing new equipment," said Don Pelton, Radiologix's vice president of materials management. "The benefit of the software boils down to providing reliable and accurate diagnostic results to our referring physicians and quality services to patients because the software gives us the ability to ensure that our equipment always operates at peak performance."
Radiologix has used the e-procurement and materials management components of ProcureIT since 1999. Because those components work with the assets component, the company said it is now better able to manage and plan its overall spending. All purchases, from office supplies to X-ray machines, are handled through ProcureIT.
"ProcureIT lets me see the big picture regarding our overall spend," said Pelton. He relies on the provider's software for data on key performance indicators such as supply expense per facility, inventory expense as a percentage of revenue and average supply cost per procedure.
"Radiologix is visionary in terms of cost control. It's obvious they understand the strategic value of standardizing on one system to manage procurement, inventory and assets," said Verian's President and CEO Tehseen Ali.
