Walmart Taps ThomasNet.com to Support its Domestic Manufacturing Initiative

The exclusive corporate edition gives suppliers immediate access to 500,000 U.S. manufacturers of products and components

New YorkJuly 8, 2015ThomasNet announced that it is joining forces with Walmart to support the retailer’s U.S. manufacturing initiative to support American jobs.

Walmart committed to investing $250 billion in products that support and create American jobs by 2023. Based on data from Boston Consulting Group, it is estimated that 1 million new U.S. jobs can be created through this initiative. Responding to feedback from its vendors that finding U.S. sources of supply was a challenge, Walmart found the solution in ThomasNet.com, a platform for product sourcing and supplier discovery.

“As a proud supporter of U.S. manufacturing for over 100 years, we were honored when Walmart asked us to join its domestic manufacturing initiative,” said Tom Greco, vice Ppresident of ThomasNet. “Our Corporate Edition of ThomasNet.com was designed exclusively for Walmart to offer suppliers immediate access to over half a million U.S. manufacturers of products, components and custom services.”

“ThomasNet is helping Walmart give our vendors options to find the quality products and services they need to be competitive,” said Michelle Gloeckler, executive vice president of consumables and U.S. manufacturing lead at Walmart “This goes a long way in creating business opportunities in the U.S. that drive job growth within the manufacturing industry.”
