A Proficient Partnership

EDS PLM, Proficiency partner to ship computer-aided design interoperability components

Marlborough, MA November 15, 2002 Proficiency, the innovator in engineering supply chain collaboration, announced it has reached an agreement with EDS PLM Solutions to ship "out of the box" CAD interoperability components built with the Unigraphics NX and I-deas open toolkits.

Proficiency said its support of EDS I-deas and Unigraphics NX in its advanced Collaboration Gateway interoperability solution provides manufacturers a solution for interoperability between feature-based modeling systems. The agreement will allow Proficiency to simplify installation, administration and support of today's multi-CAD environments.

"The ability to share data among applications is essential for the success of PLM customers," said Bruce Feldt, vice president of Open Tools for EDS PLM Solutions. "As part of our PLM Open platform, we provide a suite of tools that enable customers who have chosen software from both EDS PLM Solutions and Proficiency, to share application data and realize the value of EDS' 'Open by Design' technology and business model."

"Today's announced agreement with EDS PLM Solutions is a major milestone toward achieving Proficiency's goal of enabling effective collaboration between engineering users of disparate CAD systems," said Scott Berkey, CEO and president of Proficiency. "Proficiency has formal agreements in place covering the "big five" high-end CAD systems used by OEMs and suppliers in the automotive, aerospace, high-tech manufacturing and heavy equipment markets today."
