Canadian retailer taps Manhattan Associates for solution to enable control over all warehouse-related processes at Toronto DC

Atlanta — January 17, 2005 — Canadian sporting goods company The Forzani Group has tapped Manhattan Associates to deploy components of the provider's supply chain execution solutions at the retailer's Toronto distribution center to enable control over all warehouse-related processes.

Calgary-based Forzani is Canada's largest retailer of sporting goods, operating more than 300 retail locations across the country and accounting for more than 10 percent of the $5.6 billion Canadian sporting goods market, according to the most recent industry data.

Forzani will implement components of Manhattan Associates' Integrated Logistics Solutions — including Warehouse Management, Labor Management and Slotting Optimization — in its Toronto distribution center in 2005. These solutions will enable Forzani to have complete control over all warehouse-related processes, including facility layout, labor optimization, flow through and cross docking, according to Manhattan.

Additionally, Manhattan Associates' Trading Partner Management solution will enhance Forzani's ability to effectively communicate with trading partners and gain better overall visibility into the flow of goods through its supply chain, the solution provider said.

"Forzani was looking for a technology partner to support our future growth plans, and Manhattan Associates is the clear leader in supply chain execution and optimization for retailers," said Keith Lambert, vice-president for supply chain at Forzani.

Lambert said that the provider's Integrated Logistics Solutions for Retail would provide a source-to-consumption platform for managing product movement throughout the recently opened Toronto DC, as well as for extending product flow visibility to the company's retail stores and vendor partners. "We believe that Manhattan Associates will be key in helping us control operational costs and offer improved service levels to our customers as we expand our market share across Canada," Lambert said.

Jeff Mitchell, Manhattan Associates' executive vice president for Americas operations, said that the provider has a long history of serving clients in the retail sector. "This expertise, combined with Forzani's current needs, makes this a great opportunity for both companies," said Mitchell. "Our Integrated Logistics Solutions for Retail will provide Forzani with the tools that meet their needs today and are flexible enough to adapt to their requirements tomorrow."
