Silicon products company to deploy Emptoris' solution to drive global procurement initiatives

Burlington, MA  March 4, 2005  Silicon products manufacturer Dow Corning has signed up to use a spend analysis solution from Emptoris in a bid to enable its procurement team to drive global initiatives designed to deliver significant cost reductions.

A $3.4 billion global producer of silicon-based technology, Midland, Mich.-based Dow Corning is equally owned by Corning and Dow Chemical.

Jim Sanderson, executive director for procurement at Dow Corning, said that the company needed better visibility into its total spending patterns to achieve its savings goals over the next few years.

"Emptoris provides the right combination of leading edge analytical technologies to deliver a global, aggregated view of our total spend," Sanderson said. "With this insight, we can significantly increase procurement's role in areas offering the largest savings opportunities."

Sanderson added that Dow Corning is committed to employing solutions that provide access to the best data for making decisions, establishing accountability and driving innovation across its supply chain.
