Vitessa Gets Intuitive

Vitessa does largest implementation of IntuiFind

FREMONT, CALIF. March 5, 2001 Mercado Software announced today that Vitessa Corp., an outsourced e-commerce application provider, selected Mercado Software's IntuiFind search for its e-commerce network, the Vitessa Merchant Exchange (VMX). Through VMX, merchants select products from a virtual supply chain, insert chosen products into their Web environments, and begin selling to their customers online immediately.

Built from the ground up to search content-rich e-catalogs, IntuiFind features more than 50 linguistic knowledge banks designed specifically for understanding structural databases. With IntuiFind, Vitessa's clients will experience better search results, regardless of spelling, terminology, or wording all without the need to understand the complexities of the underlying data infrastructure.

Vitessa also chose Mercado Software's IntuiFind because it offered a scalable search solution for its rapidly expanding catalog and client base. "Because we have a growing base of Fortune 2000 customers, IntuiFind's scalability was very important to us. As we continue to add new suppliers to meet the increasing needs of our merchants, we know through experience that IntuiFind will continue to grow with us," said Robson Grieve, vice president of products and solutions for Vitessa.

eMarketplaces and portals, like Vitessa's, combine hundreds of suppliers and their catalogs and commonly produce collections of disparate information that are stored in a variety of databases. This can increase development costs for portals and marketplaces and make search difficult for buyers. Mercado's IntuiFind allows buyers to search across multi-supplier catalogs without requiring merchants to engage in a costly normalization process.
