An EPIC Drama

Motorola picks EPIC

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. March 16, 2001 Motorola has announced a strategic alliance with EPIC Systems to create an Open Buying on the Internet (OBI)-compliant catalog, which is a resource for electronic commerce customers. Motorola's e-commerce offering will provide the capability through a collaborative effort with electronic commerce infrastructure EPIC Systems.

Motorola's e-Commerce Solution is an open software platform that enables Solution Operators to take advantage of a complete integrated electronic commerce process with participants from different industries. This catalog will assist buyers and sellers by offering an electronic procurement resource. The addition of the e-catalog will reduce the cost of entry for those enterprises wanting to expedite their engagement in electronic procurement.

EPIC Systems will supply a critical component needed for Motorola to integrate the compelling benefits of a total systems solution, said John Cole, vice president and general manager of Motorola's Information Security Systems and Products Division. Our e-catalog will assist our solution operators in customizing their product presentation cost effectively.

Motorola and their worldwide marketing presence and supply chain expertise are the keys that make this initiative successful, said David Liggett senior vice president of EPIC Systems. With EPIC Systems adding an affordable supplier catalog that employs the OBI open systems protocol, suppliers can for the first time economically deploy an e-catalog that broadens their reach into the global B2B community through Motorola's e-Commerce.
