When Mackenna Moralez first entered the University of Wisconsin-Platteville she had every intention of becoming a radio/television broadcaster. However, she quickly learned that she had the face for radio and a voice that only a mother could love, and dove head-first into journalism. Throughout her schooling Moralez worked endless hours at her student newspaper, The Exponent, as the Editor-in-Chief, winning first place at the Associated Collegiate Press Best of Midwest awards for her editorial piece on sexual harassment. On the rare occasion that she wasn’t in the newsroom, she served as the public relations/social media manager for the English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta (yes, she really is that cool) and earned her keep working at the school’s cafeteria and clothing store.

Since graduating with a degree in professional writing in Dec. 2017, Moralez has worked for AC Business Media as the web editor for both Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive, moving to the assistant editor position in 2020. In her role, she creates the newsletters; edits and publishes online content; and coordinates the award programs and more. Moralez wants to urge everyone to finish their award submissions so she doesn’t have to continuously have to email you to do so.

While Moralez has limited years in the work force, one thing has become clear to her: speak up even if your voice shakes. Like the tattoo on her forearm reminds her, Moralez wants to remind everyone to “be kind to yourself.”

In her free time, you can find Moralez attending Broadway musicals, singing, writing about things other than the supply chain or walking straight into a mosh pit at the nearest rock show. She also has a goal of reading 100 books this year, feel free to send her any recommendations.
