Old Dominion Opens South Dakota, Service Center

Also expands Manassas, Va., service center

Rapid City, S.D.—Aug. 5, 2013—Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., recently opened a new service center in Rapid City, a growing transportation hub in the Black Hills. The seven-door center is strategically located along Interstate 90, a major east-west thoroughfare.

The scenic mountain range spanning the northern Great Plains in South Dakota and Wyoming, the Black Hills are often associated with Mount Rushmore and Badlands National Park. However, the region also benefits from strong mining, manufacturing and tourism industries.

“This service center is unique in the fact that it offers direct service from the South Hills to the North Hills daily,” said Jon Olson, manager of the Rapid City Service Center. “We’re excited to add the facility to Old Dominion’s growing network of service centers around the country, and help increase the company’s foothold in the area.”

The facility provides direct service to Rapid City, Black Hills, Spearfish, Sturgis, Belle Fourche, Hermosa, Hot Springs and Custer in South Dakota and Devils Tower, Sundance and Newcastle in Wyoming.

Virginia expansion

Old Dominion also expanded its Manassas Service Center, allowing the company to accommodate increased customer demand throughout Northern Virginia. The 40-door facility serves as a gateway to Washington, D.C., and is strategically located near Interstates 95 and 66. The service center employs 40 people.

“With 12 additional doors and numerous technological upgrades, Old Dominion is now better poised for growth in the region,” said Michael McCormick, manager of the Manassas Service Center. “We look forward to offering our premium service from our larger, improved service center.”

The facility’s service area includes Washington, D.C., and much of Northern Virginia (Manassas, Dulles, Stealing, Chantilly, Springfield, Alexandria, Culpepper, Chantilly, Quantico and Stafford). The facility is one of nine Old Dominion service centers operating in Virginia.
