Volkswagen will begin utilizing Amazon Web Services to link and integrate data from 122 VW Group plants, machines and systems to improve its production operations and processes, Reuters reports.
The e-commerce giant will reportedly help Volkswagen join its plants and supply chain with over 30,000 locations and 1,500 suppliers using the data platform Volkswagen Industrial Cloud. The platform could eventually be available to other car manufacturers and major industries companies in the coming months as well.
According to Reuters, the platform will help VW detect supply bottlenecks and process disruptions early as well as to optimize the operation of machinery and equipment. In addition, Amazon's machine learning analytics and production skills will be extended to the requirements of the auto industry.
