Gatik AI Inc. unveiled the scope of a comprehensive safety case audit for its freight-only operations (deliveries without a human driver onboard) across North America.

"The validation of our safety case goes beyond a basic review of safety practices and mission statements," says Gautam Narang, Gatik’s CEO. "We are auditing our complete autonomous ecosystem to ensure safety in the real world, not just on paper. Our goal is to create safer roads for everyone. We’re taking the bold step of mandating an external audit of our safety case to not only hold ourselves accountable but to help establish a standard for the entire industry. Now, we encourage our industry peers to adopt this framework.”

Key takeaways:

  • Gatik engaged Edge Case Research and TÜV SÜD to develop, examine, verify and validate its approach to safely deploying freight-only operations at scale. Edge Case Research has already deployed dedicated resources and personnel to support the execution of the overall safety strategy across system development, testing and safety engineering. TÜV SÜD will conduct audit services focused on all factors that impact safety including design and testing practices, procedures and training, safety management, and the self-driving system.
  • Gatik’s freight-only operations is poised to revolutionize middle-mile logistics with safe, reliable artificial intelligence (AI)-driven autonomy.
