Unilever Steps into e-Sourcing

To use A.T. Kearney's eBreviate tools in bid to drive cost reductions

Plano, TX November 1, 2002 Consumer products giant Unilever is set to use an e-sourcing solution from A.T. Kearney in a bid to drive cost reduction and supply chain improvements.

Unilever, the $49 billion multinational, will use e-sourcing technology and services from eBreviate, the solution provider that was folded back into A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions late last year.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The agreement provides Unilever access to the eBreviate suite of e-sourcing products, including Deal Management, Sourcing Team Tools, Auctions, RFP/Sourcing Survey, Supplier Search, Supply Market Solutions and the eBreviate Academy, as well as the support of A.T. Kearney's e-sourcing managers.

Unilever is counting on these online tools and services to help the company manage its sourcing workflow for global collaboration and deliver sustainable supply management cost structures by accelerating negotiations and sourcing savings.

Unilever piloted the eBreviate offering to negotiate purchases in several categories.
