ThomasNet.com's Quality Certification Application

This comprehensive database for engineers and buyers details suppliers that are certified for adherence to quality standards

New YorkJune 24, 2014—For engineers and other buyers looking to add quality-certified suppliers to their supply chain, their jobs just got easier. ThomasNet.com announced the addition of a certification application to its free platform, putting thousands of these companies—and their certificates—within reach. Buyers can qualify commercial and industrial suppliers classified to 67,000 product and service categories by 80 different certifications/registrations, and easily create a shortlist of those who hold the credentials.

ThomasNet.com users tell us that quality and industry certification information is critical to the supplier discovery and qualification process. By expanding the certified supplier database, and launching an application specific to finding and qualifying certified suppliers, ThomasNet.com is now a more powerful application for finding trusted supplier partners,” said Tom Greco, vice president, ThomasNet.com.

The application’s database features ANSI, ISO, Nadcap, SAE and other quality-certified suppliers. In addition, other government- and industry-certified suppliers, such as ITAR, FDA, FAA and MIL-SPEC, are included. Certificates for thousands of suppliers are available for download directly from suppliers’ in-depth profiles, which include capabilities, equipment lists, product information, brands carried, demographics, ownership and diversity information, video plant tours and product demonstrations to help in the decision to add suppliers to the shortlist.

Certification is one of six applications available on ThomasNet.com, which helps engineers and supply chain professionals solve their most difficult sourcing challenges, and discover new suppliers. The hallmark of the platform is its Supplier Discovery application with 700,000 manufacturers, distributors and service providers. A Product Sourcing application uses proprietary search technology and product taxonomies to locate the right product from over 100 million items, including raw materials, components and finished parts. Engineers can also find millions of downloadable 2D/3D computer-aided design (CAD) models to ensure that the parts they need are an exact fit for their products.
