Bemis Manufacturing Co. taps IFS for business software
Chicago — April 16, 2004 — Bemis Manufacturing Co. of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., has signed a contract to implement IFS Applications business software for its operations in Europe.
Bemis, the world's largest manufacturer of toilet seats and a leading manufacturer of proprietary and custom plastic products, said it would host IFS' financial, distribution, manufacturing, product data management, business performance, human resources and e-business applications from its Sheboygan Falls Corporate Data Center.
"Our European team and corporate steering committee selected IFS because the IFS component model can address our current and future needs in Europe, North America and other regions of the world," said Bruce Hagen, vice president of Corporate Information Systems for Bemis Manufacturing Co. "IFS demonstrated the system scalability and multi-site, multi-currency and multi-language capabilities that are necessary for a global company such as ours."
The initial implementation will integrate facilities in Burnley, Lancashire, England, and Volpiano (Turin), Italy.
"IFS began selling business software 20 years ago in Europe and Scandinavia, where thinking globally is not a new concept," said Michael Nordin, president of IFS North America. "We have developed an integrated product that ideally meets that needs of today's 24/7 global enterprises. And our component technology makes it easy to add functionality and implement additional sites as the enterprise grows."
Industrial manufacturing is one of IFS' targeted vertical markets. The company said it has a customer base in the industry, focusing on medium- to large-size manufacturers that need support for complex order-driven and mixed-mode manufacturing across the extended enterprise.
Existing IFS customers in the industrial manufacturing industry include Deere & Co., Dresser-Rand, Bunzl Extrusion, Intek Plastics, Value Plastics, Mitutoyo, Gehl, and Johnson Pump.
