Global electronics manufacturer sees results from Xelus solution for parts planning and inventory optimization

Rochester, NY — November 15, 2004 — Jabil Global Services (JGS) has implemented a parts planning and inventory optimization solution from Xelus and has already seen an impact on the efficiency of its repair operations, according to an announcement this week from Xelus.

JGS is a wholly owned subsidiary of St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Jabil Circuit, one of the world's largest contract electronic manufacturing services (EMS) providers. JGS provides repair and logistics services for OEM manufacturers of telecommunications equipment, mobile and office computing, handheld PDA devices and medical equipment.

During a 12-week implementation period, JGS deployed XelusParts, a Web-based solution designed to facilitate collaboration between various users in the extended service supply chain, enabling inventory optimization and helping companies to achieve optimal product uptime or fill rate at the lowest cost.

Currently deployed with XelusRepair and XelusReturns on a global basis, JGS is the largest worldwide user of both solutions. With the addition of XelusParts the company is now utilizing the entire suite of Xelus solutions, which, the solution provider said, will enable complete visibility of JGS' extended supply chain and the entire loop from the customer through repair, and back to the customer.

Xelus said that JGS has realized immediate benefits from using the solution, including identification of excess inventory, cancellation of on-order positions and better utilization of existing assets.

"We have already seen significant improvements within our internal environment," said Hartmut Liebel, president of JGS. "With XelusParts we are not only able to optimize inventory in our world-class repair operations, but we have added key elements of planning and optimization for both product inventory and component parts that we can offer to our customers, making JGS a one-stop solution for many of our customers' reverse supply chain management needs."

Liebel said that the next plateau of benefits will come from realizing the synergies made possible as JGS expands the current level of integration between its reverse logistics supply chain, depot repair operations and material planning, all on the Xelus platform. "Xelus solutions are a key component of our worldwide reverse logistics capabilities," added Liebel.
