KANSAS CITY, MO -- September 14, 2000 - Empriva Technologies and Printpack are teaming up to leverage innovative solutions for the packaging industry.
"Empriva's SMA/RT(tm) system will allow us to better communicate with customers and really gain an understanding of their requirements. This understanding should allow us to save money through design improvements, standardization and better asset utilization," says Terry Harper, Vice President - Technology and Support, Printpack.
The SMA/RT system allows companies that buy and sell packaging to realize operational efficiencies and collaborative cost savings. By standardizing packaging terminology and making the data accessible via a Web browser, supply chain partners benefit from improved communication and automated business processes, in addition to reduced costs.
With Empriva's SMA/RT (Specification Management Application/Real Time) system, Printpack can see the customer's specifications and proactively assist them by suggesting changes to improve the appearance, performance characteristics and manufacturability of products. SMA/RT allows both companies to realize operational and cost efficiencies. Printpack will initially focus its use of SMA/RT on enhancing its relationship with General Mills, another company known for it's innovative approach to supply chain management.
"Printpack's selection of Empriva as a partner is highly significant," says Mike Stradinger, CEO, Empriva. "Working with Printpack, considered to be a technology leader in the flexible packaging industry, will further our goal of creating a standardized terminology within the packaging industry. This agreement clearly demonstrates our ability to provide innovative packaging solutions."
Empriva's SMA/RT system is delivered as a subscription-based service that is easily accessed through any standard Web browser. With no special hardware or software to buy, install or learn, Printpack can begin using the system immediately to realize a number of benefits.
