New CEO for Ariba

Former COO Larry Mueller gets promoted, Keith Krach stays on as chairman of the board

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- April 30, 2001  B2B behemoth Ariba today announced that Larry Mueller has been promoted to CEO. Mueller previously served as president and COO at Ariba, where he worked to expand global operations. Former Ariba CEO, Keith Krach, will continue as chairman of the board of directors.

In response to the transition, Krach said, "We have built a tremendous team at Ariba over the past four and a half years. With Larry leading Ariba, I'm confident we will be successful in taking Ariba to the next level.

"My efforts as chairman will be focused on reaching out to our customers and collaborating on board level strategy and the direction of the company," continued Krach.  "I look forward to assisting Larry and his team as they build on their achievements."

Mueller, Ariba's new CEO, stated that, "Ariba's mission has always been to deliver cost savings through the applications, platform and network that enable e-commerce between trading partners.  Keith has been instrumental in bringing this vision to market," said Mueller.  "As CEO, I look forward to steering Ariba in its next phase of growth.

Mueller was promoted to president and COO of Ariba in January 2000.  Prior to joining Ariba in October 1999, Mueller was the president and CEO of Imageware, a software startup that under his direction, gained global dominance in the 3D modeling market.  Before Imageware, Mueller held the post of executive vice president of worldwide operations for J.D. Edwards. Prior to this appointment, he spent over a decade at IBM, holding several sales and executive management positions.
