Denver, CO and Waltham, MA July 12, 2001 IONA, an e-business integration platform provider, today announced that Evolving Systems Inc., a provider of telecom and wireless data software solutions, has selected the IONA Enterprise Integrator to support its Wireless Local Number Portability (LNP) Product Suite.
Evolving Systems will utilize the IONA Enterprise Integrator to extend the integration framework for its PortExchange and NumberManager applications, two major components within the company's existing Wireless LNP Product Suite. Number portability was mandated for wireline carriers by the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996, to allow customers to keep their existing telephone numbers when changing carriers. The FCC later extended the mandate to wireless carriers, with an implementation deadline of November 2002.
"Our customers include Regional Bell Operating Companies, InterExchange Carriers, and several of the nation's largest wireless carriers," said Jim Ross, president and chief operating officer of Evolving Systems. "Each of these carriers demands a reliable and scalable solution that offers seamless, 24/7 interoperability with a wide range of applications and systems. The IONA Enterprise Integrator's strict adherence to standards enables it to be easily embedded with our applications. It ensures the reliability and extensibility our customers require, significantly reduces our production and deployment time, and will assist us in broadening our customer-base into international markets."
"Evolving Systems is a leader in next-generation telecom OSS and wireless data software solutions," said Bob Potter, executive vice president of business operations at IONA. "They continually turn changes in the telecommunications industry to their advantage, and have become the nation's Number One provider of local number portability solutions. We are pleased that Evolving Systems has chosen the IONA Enterprise Integrator as the framework to support its LNP product suite, and we look forward to helping them expand their presence in the high-growth wireless data communications market."
