Schenker selects GT Nexus to improve information flow

Essen, Germany and Alameda, CA November 8, 2001 In a statement released this week, Schenker, a logistics services provider, announced that it has selected GT Nexus Forwarder Private Network (FPN) for a global sea freight management initiative to improve information flow and supply chain management for its customers.

FPN is a collaborative logistics management system designed specifically for global logistics providers. Through FPN, Schenker will operate its own network to service its customers and to conduct business with over a dozen worldwide carriers. As part of the first phase of deployment, Schenker will initially deploy FPN at select locations worldwide.

Dr. Thomas Lieb, member of the Board of Schenker AG, said that because of Schenker's position as a logistics provider, the company must work closely with its customers in order that their supply chains might improve as a result of Schenker's imroved supply chain.  GT Nexus addresses the critical relationships [with customers and global carriers] and is an important tool in helping improve the level of service to our customers," he said. "This is another step in our strategy to connect our network with the carriers."
