Demantra Signs Six

New customers in industrial, consumer goods, pharmaceutical industries tap demand planning tool

Cambridge, MA November 6, 2002 Six new customers have signed up to use a demand-side solution from software provider Demantra in bids to help improve their supply chain efficiency and overall customer satisfaction.

The new customers, from the industrial, consumer goods and pharmaceutical industries, include Gulftech, Mondi, F. Schumacher, Vision Ease, Commonwealth Industries and OPG. They will use Demantra's software with the objectives of optimizing inventory levels, increasing forecast accuracy and reducing stock-outs without increasing overall cost.

Demantra said its solution allows consumer goods manufacturers to generate a single, consistent demand plan so they can optimize all marketing, inventory and replenishment decisions. By incorporating the solution into their supply chain strategies, companies can work to shrink planning cycles, increase inventory turns to free up working capital, and improve service levels, leading to increased customer satisfaction and retention, according to the software company.

"Today's manufacturers are looking for solutions that generate significant cost savings that lead to an increase in profitability," said Bill Seibel, CEO of Demantra. Seibel asserted that collaborative demand planning reduces variability in the supply chain, helping companies to optimize inventory levels and reduce inventory costs.

The new customers will use the demand planning capabilities provided by Demantra through the solution provider's original equipment manufacturer relationship with J.D. Edwards.
