Mountain View, CA December 10, 2002 bom.com, a provider of online product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, this week launched the bom.com partner program, in addition to announcing new partnerships with ASP.com, Cadence Design Systems, Digi-Key, eFunda, ENGINEERING.com, Thomas Register and TRUSTe. The provider said the new alliances, in addition to its existing relationships with IDEO, QAD and SolidWorks, help to create a unified design and manufacturing supply chain for its customers.
In the new partner program, bom.com's partner companies participate in a number of ways, from linking their solutions with the bom.com application to providing input into the bom.com PLM platform.
The provider explained that when its customers use the bom.com application to manage the relationships that define their products, they also access a PLM system that can integrate with mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD), electronic design automation (EDA) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.
Other types of partnerships offer a secure foundation for the application, timely access to part and supplier information from within the bom.com application, and use of a PLM solution created with input from those who are knowledgeable in design and manufacturing.
bom.com said its partners in the program also have access to activities like joint sales and marketing programs and new versions of the bom.com application, as well as technical support and consulting.
The partnerships formed by bom.com fall into the categories of Integration, Solution, Infrastructure, Content, Referral and Consulting, which the company claimed enhances its ability to support customers' product development needs.
Michael Topolovac, the CEO of bom.com, said, "bom.com customers gain not only a centralized view of their product information, but also access to an online PLM system that will continue to scale to meet their needs. Partnerships are a critical piece of this ongoing evolution, and we're pleased to have so many well-respected organizations helping us offer a more complete PLM solution. We welcome them all as bom.com partners."
