Plano, TX — April 11, 2003 — Florida Power & Light Co. has signed up to use e-sourcing technologies and services from A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions in another sign of growing cost-consciousness in the utilities industry.
FPL, the largest investor-owned Florida electric utility, serving approximately 4 million customer accounts, signed an agreement allowing for unlimited use of the A.T. Kearney's request for proposal (RFP) and auction technologies, as well as intellectual capital available through Kearney's eSourcing Management support and Supply Market Solutions, a Web-based resource for strategic sourcing content and methodologies.
The utility, an experienced user of e-sourcing technology, signed an annual contract with an opportunity for two years of extensions.
"A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions had the right combination of strategic sourcing expertise, e-sourcing functionality and pricing flexibility to make this a win-win for everyone involved," said Ari Chaney, vice president of integrated supply chain for FPL.
Michael Sorensen, A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions vice president of global sales and marketing, noted that the utilities industry is becoming more competitive and cost-conscious, and that sourcing services and technologies can be an important tool in helping to revolutionize the industry.
"Complete procurement transformation is an important strategy for utilities to embrace in such a challenging environment," Sorensen added.
