Calypso Taps MatrixOne

Medical technology company using product lifecycle management solution to ensure regulatory compliance

Westford, MA — May 2, 2003 — Calypso Medical Technologies, an early stage life sciences company, has deployed a product lifecycle management (PLM) solution from MatrixOne in a bid to create a collaborative product development and regulatory reporting environment for medical devices.

Calypso, of Seattle, Wash., is a development-stage medical device company targeting unmet medical needs in cancer therapy with new technologies.

MatrixOne said its PLM solutions provide tools for advanced electronic document and engineering change management, helping to ensure that Calypso Medical meets federal government regulations for electronic signatures and documentation. The company also is working to eliminate barriers by enabling personnel located onsite and remotely to review designs and changes concurrently.

"As a life sciences company in the development phase, cost efficiency, conscientious data tracking and superior quality are of highest importance," said Marcia Page, director of quality for Calypso. "From the outset of choosing a PLM environment, we painstakingly defined the processes we needed in a successful solution."

Page said the MatrixOne PLM solution not only provided the immediate functionality Calypso needed out of the box but also supported the company's unique business processes without expensive customization.

As a result of this implementation, completed in less than two months, Calypso employees can access accurate product information in real-time and fully comply with FDA regulations, which MatrixOne said should improve the company's time-to-market performance.
