Providers to offer integrated logistics management and trade compliance

Alameda and San Carlos, CA — August 25, 2003 — GT Nexus Inc., a global logistics technology provider, and global trade management solutions provider Open Harbor Inc. today announced an initiative that will integrate Open Harbor's trade security, compliance and documentation services with GT Nexus's logistics management, global visibility and event management systems.

The integrated platform, based on a Web-hosted model, is designed to deliver real-time content for trade security, provide end-to-end global trade workflow and logistics execution, add visibility into the supply chain process, and enable collaboration between global trading partners, according to the companies.

As part of the integrated platform, Open Harbor said it would provide the software, infrastructure and real-time trade content for global trade management activities, including product classification, product catalog management, restricted party screening, import and export compliance, trade documentation and trade process automation.

GT Nexus said it would provide supply chain logistics functionalities such as order management, supply chain modeling, event management and analytics, transportation procurement and contract management and execution.

The providers said the combination of global trade management and logistics execution is a way for customers to control and track the flow of goods through the order-to-delivery cycle, ensuring that all trade documentation, customs clearance, regulatory screening and security compliance processes are addressed.

Furthermore, they said, it serves as an auditable record of compliance with C-TPAT, the Container Security Initiative, 24-Hour Manifest Rule and other government security programs.

"In today's environment, any company that imports or exports goods must be extremely diligent about managing trade compliance and security. Executives have to know, more precisely and faster than before, where the products are, who is handling them, how they are documented, and when events occur that put security at risk," said Beth Peterson, vice president of product solutions at Open Harbor. "Combining our real-time content and automated compliance tools with GT Nexus' visibility and event management architecture supports our goal of giving importers and exporters a global view that strengthens the security of their supply chain while mitigating risk."

The joint solution will be marketed to customers and prospects of both companies under a referral agreement. It will use Web infrastructure and integration methodologies already deployed successfully by both companies. Application programming interfaces will allow exchange of information and services between the two platforms.
