Atlanta—June 5, 2012—Global supply chain optimization provider Manhattan Associates Inc.’s Driver & Load and Drop & Swap solutions are now being utilized by Western Express Inc. The Nashville, Tenn.-based dry van and flatbed truckload carrier uses the solutions from the Manhattan Carrier solution suite to reduce empty miles, improve customer service and increase driver satisfaction.
Manhattan Carrier delivers comprehensive planning, management and day-to-day analysis of information, which enables Western Express to make strategic decisions to overcome business challenges unique to North American motor carriers.
“Manhattan software is constantly running thousands of calculations on our load service, deadhead, out of route miles, hours of service and home time to help optimize our fleet operations and improve performance,” said Jay Erskine, Director of Customer Service at Western Express. “Our associates did these functions manually in the past and are saving up to two hours per day now with Manhattan Carrier solutions.”
Western Express selected Manhattan’s Driver&Load solution to optimally match every driver to the best load possible, along with Drop&Swap which quickly identifies service, home-time and utilization issues anywhere within its fleet and determines the optimal “swap”—managing drivers’ hours of service and time-at-home, while ensuring on-time performance.
