According to the Women in Trucking Association (WIT), the percentage of female safety professional in corporations with for-hire or private fleets in the commercial freight transportation industry continues to increase for 2022 to 40.5%.
“More and more women are becoming safety directors and we are encouraged by these numbers and look forward to seeing the percentages increase in the coming years,” says Ellen Voie, WIT’s president and chief executive officer.
The WIT Index concludes:
- approximately 20% of respondents report having 90% or more of women in safety roles
- 28% saying they have 50% to 70% women in those roles
- Approximately 27% report having 10% to 40% women in safety roles, while 23.5% report they have no women in safety roles
