Lyft Goes Carbon Neutral

The ride-hailing service is prepared to invest millions in carbon offsets.

Lyft co-found John Zimmer announced that all Lyft rides are carbon neutral due to the company's multi-million dollar invest in carbon offset porgrams.

The company will bance out vehicles emissions by investing in a number of environmental and sustainability efforts. It anticipates neutralizing over a million metric tons of carbon in the first year.

Lyft is aware of transportation's negative impact on the environment and decided to vamp its sustainability practices once President Trump decided to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord.

To continue being carbon neutral, the company will invest millions in balancing its carbon footprint. Lyft will be teaming up with 3Degrees which oversees the registration and independent verification of carbon-offset projects.
