Northstar Services and J&E Transportation Services Announce Merger

Union provides fully integrated services to steamship lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, 3PLs and beneficial cargo owners

Pennsauken, N.J.—Feb. 18, 2014—Northstar Services, LTD and J&E Transportation Services, Inc. announced the merger of their two companies, effective Jan. 31, 2014.

Combining two well-established companies brings a broader, more comprehensive spectrum of services to the marketplace, according to Al Iannelli, chief operating officer of J&E Transportation Services. This development also allows each individual company to maintain the highest performance level in their areas of expertise: Northstar Services LTD, an asset-based carrier which offers trucking and drayage, and J&E Transportation Services, which provides brokerage and warehousing, he said.

“The merger of these two companies enables us to offer fully-integrated services to all steamship lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, 3PLs, and beneficial cargo owners,” said Iannelli. “The value-add is additional capacity.”

Martin Marano, chairman of Northstar Services, LTD, agreed: “In addition to giving us greater capacity, it will allow us to provide cost-savings to our customer and increase our reliability. By joining forces, it’s going to bring service to a higher level. We will have greater flexibility to serve our customers with this multi-faceted operation.”

“The merger has increased our capacity to 80 trucks for local, regional, and over-the-road trucking services and the newly opened 145,000-square-foot warehouse in Pennsauken, N.J. allows our customers additional space,” said Marano.

Along with the companies combining forces, the merger brings almost 100 years of combined experience and expertise in the industry, specifically in intermodal and drayage.
