PageMark Launches Track and Trace Technology

Software solution utilizes covert security layer for 2D barcodes

Redmond, Wash.May 2, 2013Pagemark Technology Inc., a protection and security provider, launched its Pagemark Track and Trace proprietary turnkey software solution, designed for enhanced counterfeiting and diversion protection.

Pagemark Track and Trace incorporates the company's Pelta technology, which utilizes a covert layer embedded into existing 2D barcodes. The solution is intended for the pharmaceutical, life sciences, packaged goods, tax compliance and other industries requiring serialization and tracking support.

“By adding a proprietary second layer of protection within existing 2D barcodes, Pagemark Track and Trace provides a simple and effective security solution for manufacturers and governments desiring increased visibility of serialized products in their supply chain,” said RanDair Porter, President of Pagemark Technology. “Using the Pagemark solution, serialization or other data can easily be stored in the Pelta covert data layer, effectively hidden from fraudsters.”

Counterfeiting is a growing problem globally. A study by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) valued pirated products worldwide in 2006 at $176 billion, equivalent to the annual trade between Japan and the U.S. Additionally, counterfeit drugs alone generated an estimated $75 billion in revenue in 2010, according to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.

The new solution utilizes a server component that provides tracking through supply chains and the mechanism for customers to authenticate products; and is flexible enough to meet the track and trace needs of almost any size of organization. A number of alerts and notifications related to possible fraud, divergence and counterfeiting can be customized using geo-tracking and time based logic. Alerts conditions can be tracked on a dashboard or custom report or sent via email/SMS message.
