New moniker reflects shift to providing broader e-business solutions, enabler says
Troy, MI — January 4, 2006 — Bar Code Solutions has changed its name to Edibar Systems, saying that the new moniker better reflects the company's evolution from a barcode equipment and software solution provider to an e-business integrator.
The23-year old company said that the name change, effective with the turn of the New Year, was timed to coincide with a move to a newly built headquarters in Macomb Township, Mich. The company has been located in Troy.
Edibar Systems provides electronic data interchange (EDI), barcode and advance ship notice (ASN) solutions for the automotive and transportation industries. These solutions are also applicable in the automotive manufacturing industry and in heavy equipment and repetitive manufacturing, Edibar said.
"We were among the first companies to provide sophisticated barcode solutions to automate shipping processes and meet the automotive OEM community's e-business requirements," said owner Wayne Metcalfe, a 25-year veteran in the industry. "We chose the new company name, Edibar Systems, Inc., to better express our core services."
Edibar is building its own 7,500-square-foot facility. The new building offers more space for its growing staff and a training facility for its clients.
