Growing lighting and systems controls manufacturer selects Glovia to manage company-wide processes
El Segundo, CA — May 8, 2006 — Lighting and systems controls manufacturer Genlyte Controls has selected an enterprise resource planning solution from Glovia to manage its company-wide operations, replacing legacy systems and providing greater operational visibility.
Since the year 2000, Genlyte Control's business has been growing exponentially, making the company's homegrown systems and older products unable to provide the scope and functionality needed by the expanding enterprise.
For example, order entry is currently causing Genlyte Controls issues, as its multiple systems require double entry of the company's sales orders. In addition, having multiple systems makes it difficult for Genlyte Controls to have comprehensive visibility into its operations.
The company is deploying Glovia's ERP solution, glovia.com, to address these challenges. Glovia said that its solution will be able to expand as Genlyte grows, managing all of the company's operations with one enterprise solution. Genlyte Controls began implementing glovia.com this past January and is on target for going live this July.
Becoming a Manufacturing Company
"We are an engineering company, so one of our main goals with Glovia is to smooth out the transition from engineering to manufacturing and be able to see in advance what something is going to cost before we build it," said Jeff Brown, director of IT and compliance for Genlyte. "The capabilities we saw during the Glovia demonstrations fit our manufacturing and engineering needs and will be able to continue to do so as we grow and expand."
Glovia said that its solution will enable Genlyte Controls to have integrated, interactive management of all its inventory and full visibility of all material movement. Through flexible product configuration control, the company will be able to calculate the cost to manufacture a product, reducing the risk of costly, obsolete inventory.
Also, with Glovia, Genlyte will have a single, integrated online environment for entering and processing its sales orders, as well as the ability to manage its physical distribution of inventory.
"By choosing glovia.com, [Genlyte] will be able to move away from their multiple systems to a single, flexible, integrated and real-time enterprise solution that can effectively manage their business operations today and into the future," said Yuji Nakasu, president and CEO for Glovia International.
Dallas-based Genlyte Controls is a division of Genlyte Group. It offers a package of lighting and control systems for both entertainment and architectural lighting professionals.
