Provider to continue delivery, sequencing of parts to F-series truck manufacturing plant in Kansas City
Kansas City, MO — June 22, 2006 — TNT Logistics North America, a provider of supply chain services to the automotive industry, has renewed its largest contract to provide logistics services to Ford Motor Co.'s F-series truck manufacturing plant in Kansas City.
Since 2002, TNT has provided for the delivery and sequencing of parts going into this assembly plant. The contract extension renews the TNT/Ford relationship at this operation until 2009.
TNT is the largest logistics service supplier for Ford in Kansas City, providing sequencing and transportation from three facilities encompassing more than 200,000 square feet of warehouse space. In addition to the F-series business, TNT supports the U204 Program — the Ford Escape as well as the Mercury Mariner.
TNT is a critical provider in assisting Ford's flexible manufacturing production. TNT's services for Ford allow the steady flow of material in correct build order to the plant to support lean concepts within the plant.
Kerry Zielinski, director of business development for TNT Logistics North America, said, TNT provides both the steady material flow inbound and critical return rack processes outbound back to the suppliers. We develop specific pack-outs (load plans) for the efficient transportation of the material to the right dock at the right time in the right order.
TNT sequences to both live broadcast and ILVS (In-Live Vehicle Sequence) to allow Ford to maintain its high service quality while utilizing a smaller footprint of line side materials.
TNT Logistics provides a variety of logistics services to Ford in many locations across the world, which includes similar manufacturing support for truck and SUV production in Avon Lake, Ohio; Brownstown, Mich.; Westland, Mich., and Oakville, Ont.
TNT also provides transportation services in a variety of locations in both the United States and Canada.
We're pleased to have been selected by Ford Motor Co. to be a continuing part of their footprint in Kansas City, said Steve Kowalkoski, vice president automotive, TNT Logistics North America. This latest renewal with Ford signifies the faith that they have in our ability to provide high-quality, on-demand supply chain logistics services.
