Airline industry provisioner turns to e-sourcing solution for direct, indirect materials

Atlanta — May 25, 2004 — Airline industry provisioner e-gatematrix will use strategic sourcing solutions from Procuri across its global sourcing organization as part of an initiative to leverage its purchasing volumes and reduce its costs.

e-gatematrix manages sourcing, and procurement and logistics for the above-the-wing products and services of its customers and is the strategic supply chain management arm of the Gate Gourmet Group. In these roles, e-gatematrix is responsible for the global sourcing of over 20,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs).

With more than 30,000 purchase orders per month and over 100 caterers in North America, Europe and Asia, e-gatematrix will use Procuri's solutions to help maximize the value-to-cost ratio of individual products and services.

The company's procurement experts will add Procuri's solutions to its technology mix in order to better negotiate, collaborate and contract for food, beverage, disposables, passenger comfort items and equipment, as well as for services such as catering and cabin cleaning.

"Our customers see the value that we are able to create by leveraging our global purchasing volumes to gain lower costs," said Dominic Troilo, vice president for supply chain management at e-gatematrix. "Procuri's solutions will help us maximize these benefits for our customers while also reducing our sourcing time."

Troilo said that the company evaluated many sourcing vendors and products on the market before choosing Procuri for its functionality and ability to meet the organization's global needs.

e-gatematrix will use Procuri's solutions for managing both its direct and indirect spend categories, including materials and services.

"By fine-tuning its supply chain process, e-gatematrix is able to pass its increased efficiencies to its customers, allowing them to focus on their core business," said Mark F. Morel, Sr., Procuri's president and CEO. "The increased economic and operational pressures of the airline industry led e-gatematrix to select a solution that not only provides a quick return on investment, but also a significant cost and time savings."

e-gatematrix is a division of Gate Gourmet, an airline catering company with headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. e-gatematrix has offices in Zurich, Mexico City, Sydney, Johannesburg and Auckland, in addition to its global headquarters in Atlanta.
