Building materials manufacturer deploys demand, supply chain solutions to support growth
Rockville, MD — June 30, 2004 — James Hardie Building Products, a leading building materials manufacturer in the United States and a global leader in fiber-cement technology, said today that it will deploy a broad suite of Manugistics solutions to help the company better respond to rapidly growing demand for its products across North America.
With North American growth in the double-digit percentages, James Hardie wanted demand and supply chain technology that could enable the company to maintain high customer service levels without costly additions to its physical and personnel infrastructure.
The multi-phase Manugistics deployment will help enable the company to optimize outbound transportation of products from plants to retailers, dealers and contractors; rationalize its existing distribution network; sequence production; and create a collaborative sales and operations planning process that can better balance supply with demand while maximizing customer satisfaction and meeting profitability goals.
A spokesperson for James Hardie Building Products said the company looked long and hard at leading demand and supply chain solution providers, as well as traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution providers. After scoring competitor solutions on functional strength, industry and business configuration and cultural fit, Manugistics offerings emerged as our clear strategic choice."
"James Hardie is a clear leader in the building materials industry and is an important addition to Manugistics' deep global client base," said Jeremy Coote, president, Manugistics. "We are delighted that James Hardie has chosen Manugistics as its standard for demand, production and supply management processes, and look forward to supporting the company's long-term success."
