Department store chain taps QRS for solution to help reduce errors, lower cost of serving customers and communicating with partners
Richmond, CA — November 1, 2004 — Department store chain Boscov's has signed up to use a new solution from QRS for transaction lifecycle visibility as part of an initiative to reduce costly errors and lower the cost of serving customers and communicating with trading partners.
More than 75 years old, Boscov's Department Stores has grown into the largest family-owned department store chain in the country. Privately held, the chain operates 41 stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Maryland. The company has about 10,000 employees.
Boscov's has been a QRS customer for more than five years, using QRS Catalogue for data synchronization and QRS Exchange for transaction outsourcing. QRS Reveal works with Exchange to leverage Boscov's existing electronic data interchange (EDI) investment and provide information and intelligence about EDI transactions. Through proactive alerts, notifications and document-tracking capabilities, Reveal can help Boscov's improve its business by reducing stockouts and late or missed deliveries, the solution provider said.
"The transaction lifecycle visibility benefits that QRS Reveal offers were clear during our participation in the beta program," said Harry Roberts, senior vice president and chief information officer for Boscov's. "QRS Reveal's proactive capabilities help our organization with some of our most critical business problems such as the execution breakdowns that occur with suppliers. With QRS Reveal, we can now more effectively collaborate with our trading partners, ultimately improving our efficiency and profitability."
