Atlanta — December 14, 2004 — Technology company HP has purchased software from Viewlocity for supply chain visibility and event management., according to an announcement this week from the solution provider.

Using the Viewlocity solution, HP is developing the means to monitor its extended supply chain to ensure that events occur as they are supposed to, according to Dennis Cain, vice president of Americas Technology Solutions Supply Chain at HP.

"If things go wrong, this 'early warning system' allows us to respond to problems while protecting customer service and controlling costs," Cain said. "This translates into real bottom line results."

The project will kick off in HP's services division, which the technology company views as a key differentiator in the highly competitive computer business.

"Companies are looking for an edge, something that will enable them to generate more revenue and capture marketshare while controlling costs," said Jeff Simpson, Viewlocity's CEO.

Simpson explained that leading companies already have applications in place for enterprise resource planning, forecasting, transportation and manufacturing. Now they are looking for an incremental investment that leverages these systems to better meet demand and remove hedges of inventory, capacity and people. "It's a move that's paying off big, in just a matter of months," Simpson said.

Other companies using Viewlocity solutions include Dell, Menlo and Ford, among others.
