Shelton, CN — December 2, 2003 — After 12 months of operations at the consumer goods supplier Unilever, Toll-MTS, the combination of services from Australia-based transportation and logistics services provider Toll and Connecticut-based G-Log, has delivered value to the company's retail customer base in the form of improved on-time delivery, streamlined operational processes and improved operational efficiencies.

Unilever said the Toll/G-Log solution has streamlined administrative functions and improved visibility and control across the transport service life cycle for all parties involved.

Toll-MTS, Toll's managed transport service offering, provides shippers, customers and carriers with a single operational and administrative interface for all their transport requirements across all modes, sites and carriers.

Toll-MTS is built on the G-Log Global Command and Control Center (GC3) application, which supports collaboration, cost reduction and transport business processes with trading partners across the supply chain. The providers said GC3 is used by companies in the retail, automotive, consumer packaged goods, process and logistics-provider industries.

Unilever said it collaborated with Toll to improve its logistics operations and provide a value-added transportation solution to serve as a key cost-cutting component for Unilever's retail customers; and Toll has used the G-Log software to consolidate and track performance of Unilever's logistics operations.

As part of its managed transport services (MTS) initiative, Toll said it uses the G-Log software to provide customers with a single automated solution for all global transportation needs. MTS offers planning, execution, collaboration, visibility and event management across the supply chain from the time an order is placed through freight settlement.

In addition, Unilever said it has streamlined its transportation and logistics process to more efficiently manage its operations and give its retail customers the benefits of reduced safety-stock inventory levels and the ability to drive costs out of the supply chain.
