BURLINGTON, MA PRNewswire January 3, 2001 getPlastic, an e-marketplace solutions provider for the plastics industry, named Chevron Chemical veteran Robert E. Kennedy as its new president and CEO. Mr. Kennedy served as the general manager of Supply, Logistics, and Procurement at Chevron Chemical Company where he was responsible for all supply chain activities, including global procurement, logistics, chemical pipeline operations and terminals, the rail marine centers, transportation safety, and customer service and distribution.

Since the launch in June, getPlastic has grown steadily and we're pleased to have Bob Kennedy join our company as president and CEO, said cofounder and former president and CEO Chris Poirier, who will continue as board chairman and senior vice president of strategic development. Bob fits very well with our team of plastics industry veterans who understand the needs of our customers.

In addition to his new position, Mr. Kennedy is currently chairman of the Petrochemicals Committee of the National Petrochemicals and Refining Association (NPRA) and vice president of NPRA's Executive Committee. He has also served as past chairman of the marketing division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and chairman of the Styrene Information Center and Research Center.

Plastics processors have been waiting for the next generation e-commerce platform that would enable them to manage their business locally, but source resin globally, said Kennedy. That's what getPlastic has created through the combination of 24-7 Web access, it's Resinate commerce enabled, technical decision support platform, and personalized customer support from experienced plastics industry professionals. I'm excited to join getPlastics and to be part of the team that builds a new economy company that delivers the products their customers need, the service they require, and the value they deserve.
